What is the Joule-Credit?

The currency that cannot be debased

The Joule-Credit (JC) is the sovereign currency of the Sovereign Future State programme. One JC represents one verified kilowatt-hour of energy produced by an SFS-certified fusion reactor. It cannot be printed. It cannot be created without energy production. It is the first currency in human history whose supply is directly constrained by a fundamental law of physics.

JC is activated at fusion net energy gain — the moment the SFS programme achieves more energy out than in. Target: 2035. From that moment, every kilowatt-hour produced issues exactly one JC. The programme's fusion IP becomes the mint.

How JC is issued and verified

Step 1

Fusion Reactor Produces Energy

SFS-certified D-T fusion reactor achieves net energy output. Telemetry systems record kWh produced in real time.

Step 2

3/4 Oracle Consensus

Four independent oracle nodes — operated by the Board, the Ethics Bureau, SFS Technologies Ltd, and a rotating external auditor — must each confirm the energy production measurement. 3 of 4 must agree.

Step 3

JC Issuance

On 3/4 oracle consensus, exactly 1 JC is minted per verified kWh. The issuance is recorded on the permissioned SFS blockchain. Cannot be reversed.

Step 4

CRYSTALS-Kyber Encryption

All oracle communications and JC transactions are encrypted with CRYSTALS-Kyber 768 — post-quantum secure. JC is designed to be cryptographically sound until 10¹⁰⁰ years.

Step 5

Cross-System Exchange

JC can be exchanged for energy on any SFS-operated system. As orbital rings, Dyson swarm, and interstellar stations come online, JC becomes the universal unit of account.

Step 6

Interstellar Settlement

At interstellar scale, JC settles across light-year distances via time-stamped energy certificates. The 1 JC = 1 kWh relationship holds across all SFS systems regardless of location.

Multi-System Compatible

Works across Earth, orbital rings, interstellar stations, and any future SFS system. The reference unit of the programme's economy from 2035 to heat death.

Decentralised Verification

No single entity controls JC issuance. 3 of 4 independent oracles must agree. The Board, Ethics Bureau, SFS Technologies Ltd, and external auditor each hold one oracle.

Charter Protected

JC protocol is governed by the Human Continuity Charter Art. 14. No AI system may modify the issuance rules. Amendment requires Supermajority Threshold.

Revenue-Generating

Fusion royalties flow to SFS Foundation Trust as JC. This is the programme's primary Phase 1 revenue mechanism — self-funding from 2035.
